How to remove name from the back of a car title?

He's is stating he will refund me when my name is removed from the title. I explained I did not transfer the title. I signed title but 10 hours later found out that car needed new transmission and oil pipes. He told me he had basic mechanical skills and that there was no leaks. He checked before I arrived, supposedly.
