Driver licenses

I have New York driver license. I had traffic ticket with 2 points and speeding ticket for 6 points. Hearing will be held this year. I have not found guilty yet, but if I get points, I might get my drivers license suspended. I have to move to New Jersey because of my work. Question; what happens, if i get points in new york city after obtaining new jersey dl? My driving privileges will be suspended in new jersey too? Is there ways to keep my driver license without surrendering? Is that possible to get restricted driver privileges? Thank you

You might want to also ask this question on NJ traffic attorneys. As well as NY TRAFFIC attorneys. Those attorneys can better help you then criminal attorneys can.

If you only end up with a total of 8 points in an 18 month period then your license should be OK, unless you have 3 speeding convictions within that time frame. Check with NYSDMV driver improvement at 518-474-0774 for an accurate briefing on your license status. If you do not already have a traffic attorney representing you you should hire one ASAP as your changes are much better off with a good traffic attorney representing your interests.

Hello. If you you get suspended in New York, and then get a NJ license, you will still be suspended in NJ. A restricted license is an option but you are never guaranteed to get one. Driving is a privilege, not a right. speak with an attorney.

in addition to what the other lawyers have written, you should also take a defensive driving course, after teh appoints have been assessed to your license. For about $30 you can take a class that will remove up to four points from your license, this should avoid any possible suspensions.
