Can my child go out of state for a vacation alone

Bankruptcy and Debt 6 views 3 answers
My child's step aunt is requesting her nephews (my son and stepson) to come for a visit out of state. My ex and I are doing 50/50 and it's my time to have our son during the visit. No, I will not be going. Just the boys. Our court papers says we can travel out of state and if it is more then three days I have to give notice to his father, which I plan on doing. But it doesn't say anything about the child traveling alone. The dad doesn't agree, but it's my time to have him and he really what's to go.

If what you're doing is not contrary to the court order and the child is traveling with responsible adult supervision, I don't think you have a problem.

I would agree with Mr. Mullvaney. Unless there is a specific prohibition in the agreement and the child is not put in harm's way, there should be no issue.

I think you are safe here, unless your MSA or Final Judgment requires your presence, or interferes with his time. Of course, it is difficult to give advice on a MSA or court order without actually looking at it. Kind of like a doctor giving an opinion on an X-ray without seeing it.
