I was falsely accused of aggravated assault in Pittsburgh and had no choice but to return home to my family in Brooklyn, NY. I cannot afford to travel or stay in Pittsburgh but I want this charge against me dropped for a case that is considered open and pending. I cannot afford a stay in another state where I can't even find work while trials are ongoing. Is it possible for me to get legal representation from an attorney in Allegheny County while remaining in Brooklyn, NY? If so, could I get the phone number or website address for such a lawyer or law firm who could assist me? My family will pay the expense of a lawyer but my false accusation needs to be dropped.

I suggest reposting this question to PA attorneys instead of NY attorneys, or going to the "find a lawyer" section of this website to find an attorney in the Pittsburgh area. Good luck.

While a judge may excuse your appearance in court, there is no right to be excused, even if you have private counsel. Hire a lawyer where the case is pending and have them discuss with the clerk/judge. If you cannot afford a lawyer, they will appoint you a public defender.
