Can your principle look through your phone?

Okay so im 15 and so is my ex-girlfriend and we had some dirty talk messages (no pictures). She got involved into some drama at school and the principle called her up. The principle asked if she could look at her phone and see her and her friends messages and she said yes. She takes her phone and looks at her friends messages, but then she goes back and goes through our messages which had nothing to do with the drama and scrolled down WEEKS from our messages. Then the principle called her mom and ended up changing her number and me not allowed to be with her again.

In the scenario posted here, the principal looked through the phone of a student, with that student's permission. No problem.

A principal of a school is spelled principal, and a fundamental truth is spelled principle. With respect to the question, there was consent to the search, so nothing unlawful.
