Retroactive Child Support?

My child is now 22 and I am still married but have been separated for 8 years. I want to get divorced now. Can I ask for retroactive child support if we separated and my child was still minor?

No. I don't believe that you will get retroactive child support since your child is now 22. Child support is generally paid until the child is 18 and out of high school - whichever occurs last.

No, you may not seek child support for a person that is not a child. And, when a court enters an order it is not retroactive

Think about it: you were separated when child was 14. Child support would end, at the latest, when child is 19. You did nothing for the window of time when you could have. Now, 3 years after the last day that you could conceivably receive support, you want to know if you can ask for retroactive support. The answer is yes, you can ask. The answer will be a resounding no.
