Can I be an agent with two different companies if my contract with one company does not specifically say I cannot

I wanted to know if I am a real estate agent, or property insurance agent or life insurance agent if my employee contract with Company A only says I am an employee and cannot steal business from them during my business hours with them, does that mean I can be an agent with Company B on my own time with no conflict? What if company B is in another state and you are only licensed with your Company A employer for one particular state. Thank You in Advance

1. If you are a real estate agent, property insurance agent or life insurance agent, you aren't only bound by the terms of your contract, you are also bound by the ethics rules governing your profession in ALL of the states in which you are licensed to practice. Even if you obey the letter of the contract, you might still be committing ethics violations that could endanger your license. 2. Whether or not you are doing the job on your own hours is not sufficient information to determine whether you may be in violation of the terms of your contract for employment. You should sit down with an employment attorney with experience in regulated professions to review your contract and the manner of business you would like to engage in, compared with that for which you are employed.

I agree with Mr. Johnston. Working as an agent for the same kind of business with two different companies sounds like a situation that can well lead to controversy, potential loss of one job or the other, claims you have breached your duties, and so on. Plus if you are not licensed in the state where company B is, your license in the other state does not permit you to do that work there.
