Should I call the police?? (ATM fraud)

Bankruptcy and Debt 8 views 1 answers
I went to an independent ATM machine by a smoke shop, put my card in and my PIN. While I am waiting for the money the attendant then tells me that it's not working and will cancel out without charging me. I wait until the receipt comes out showing no charge and leave. Flashforward a couple days and I see a charge from my bank (which I am disputing). The reason why I am thinking about calling the police is because this machine was in a cement casing that can be locked at night to avoid theft. So I'm thinking that this whole thing looks shady because why was the cement casing open and unlocked if it's broken??? Looks to me like they have it cancel out charges without giving money but while still charging the customer...

Was it your bank that charged you or the ATM? Its typical that a bank will charge its customers to use outside ATMS. Although the machine did not give you any money, it still contacted your bank and requested information. It may be a charge related to your bank. Its too difficult to know without seeing the receipts/charges. You can call the police if you'd like. They'll decide whether to come check it out. Just because it wasn't locked up while broken doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong.
