I am a research scholar with ji visa which will be expired in Nov 2015. I am going to have a trip to my country. My current sponsor terminate my Ds. In the stamp of my visa it was wrote that 2 year does not apply. The question is what does it mean? It means 2 home year residency or 2 year bar? Does two year bar apply for my case? And if yes, is it fine thay my current sponsor change the DS to short term scholar in order to get ride of this rule? Please help me

That "INA Section 212(e) 2 year rule does not apply" annotation to your J-1 visa on your passport is a GOOD thing: it simply means that your particular J-1 visa program does not make you subject to the "2 year home country residency" rule, for the dreaded 2 yr. HRR does NOT automatically apply to each and every J-1 visa "cultural exchange" or "internship" program. Proof is that yours doesn't. Rejoice! You will not have to struggle with filing a "waiver" of the 2 yr. HRR.
