If you do not already have counsel, that is step 1. Get that done ASAP.

First, I encourage you to hire an attorney who specializes in DUI defense. Even if you are caught red-handed, there is a lot that can be done in a DUI case, which could result in a plea to a lesser charge. Second, when you say "discharged" are you talking about the military? If so, I encourage you to make sure your lawyer is aware you are in the service so he or she can plot a course of action that will help you avoid military disciplinary consequences. This really is not a DIY situation. If you attempt to negotiate with the prosecutor on your own, you will not get very far.

Do not mess with this on your own. Hire an attorney who is experienced in handling DUI cases. Do it first thing tomorrow morning.

I completely agree with the previous answers. Your should immediately hire an attorney that focuses on DUI cases. It is too easy for someone to miss a crucial step or deadline when trying to handle a DUI case on their own.

When you are arrested for a DUI, you need to know that there are two cases that begin against you: one in the department of public safety and one in criminal court. You only have 15 days from the date of your arrest to request a hearing with the department of public safety or your license could go into suspension for a minimum of 6 months. As far as your criminal case, although this might be a municipal matter you NEED to hire an attorney. An experienced DUI attorney can explain to you your rights, handle your case with a better result than you can and protect your future. Also, hiring counsel can sometimes before more cost effective than handling the matter on your own. Do not hesitate to call my office, we offer an after hours emergency line, payment plans and exceptional service. You can also visit www.duidefender.com for additional information.

Handling any criminal matter on your own is unwise. DWI/DUI law in particular is complex and challenging. You first need to find an attorney with a lot of experience in this particular area of criminal law then you need to be as helpful with them as possible. Given your age you may be facing extra punishment if convicted, but DUI cases are not won by the number, they are won by the facts and the mistakes of the officers involved. Have an experienced attorney look at your case, not only for potential problems for the state but to put you in the best situation to mitigate any possible punishment. Many times people just say i did it and plead guilty and come to my office complaining because they did not understand what they were doing and what the guilty plea entailed. There is no other advice than hire an experienced DUI attorney as soon as you can.
