An experienced family law attorney would be important if you are going to trial. After marriage the ring is usually not to be given back but it can depend upon many other facts that have not been provided.

Depending on the circumstances, the wedding ring could be viewed as a premarital gift and wouldn't become part of the marital estate. However, you should have an experienced attorney review the specific facts and circumstances surrounding your case.

In most states, a wedding ring is a conditional gift. Once you get married, it belongs 100% to the recipient. A family law attorney licensed in MI will be able to provide you with specific MI law. I agree with the esteemed counsel from MI. If you are going to trial, you should try to have an attorney represent you. Best of luck.
