Legally speaking, why would having a Domestic Partner status mater?

Bankruptcy and Debt 10 views 2 answers
In a heterosexual committed relationship and my significant other would like to file for Domestic Partnership once we move in together. Marriage is a premature step at this time. Even if we file for Domestic Partnership, it's my understanding that Taxes would be filed separately and that no one would have any power over the other in medical cases unless otherwise stated in a legal document. Is it the case that in Florida once a couple have been found to have lived together, the state sees them as a union/married couple?

I think what you are asking about is can you be considered legally married without actually getting married. No. There is no common law marriage in Florida. Please review the website in the link below. I hope it answers some of your questions.
