You can request a work permit if an asylum application was also filed for you.

Make sure your husband has an attorney! An attorney can: 1. Go over the application you should have hired him/her to do for you to start with. 2. Retain additional documents to help the case before the Asylum Officer 3. Represent him in the interview 4. Make closing arguments after the interview which may make or break a tough asylum case. Make sure to hire an attorney, and not a paralegal service.
