How do I know if something non traffic related goes on you record?

I've gotten a warning for something other then traffic related causes. It was just a verbal warning. I had to give up my name and number. Is my record still clean?

Your record is clean, at least as far as this unspecified "warning" is concerned.

A warning is not an arrest and not a conviction. Does not go on your driving abstract or your criminal justice records. Chicago PD and ISP keep warning records for a year in an automated system. You will show on their records as having had the benefit of a warning and are unlikely to get a second one. Counties and suburbs, as a general rule, are more slapdash about recording warnings (unless it's for land use violations or failure to pay for vehicle stickers) and it's impossible to generalize what effect they would have on a subsequent stop.
