The auction should not hold your last check. With regards to your injuries, you will need to retain a worker's compensation attorney as you were employed there. However, your daughter may be able to file suit. Consult with a Mississippi plaintiff's attorney and explain the facts of your case. Good luck!

For your injuries, you should consult a local workers' compensation lawyer if you were an employee. If you were an independent contractor for an temporary auction, workers' compensation might not apply. For your daughter's injuries, you should consult a local personal injury lawyer. Some lawyers do both personal injury and workers' comp. The auction is inappropriately holding your check. If you're a contractor, you likely have a breach of contract case against them. If you're an employee, you may have additional rights. Certain states have laws imposing extra penalties on employers for withholding money from employees. Hopefully, the injury lawyer can help you with that, too. Otherwise, it's a question for an employment lawyer. That's a lot of lawyers! But you do have multiple items going on. Best of luck.

Don't sign anything until you speak with an attorney. There are good personal injury attorneys in that area, so call one.

Not prudent to sign anything without a lawyer first reviewing. Best bet is to have a local workers comp lawyer investigate getting you wc benefits, as well as investigate everything.
