He's never had a felony but has other Misdemeanors including driving on suspended license. he's currently in jail awaiting the outcome of 4 bench warraNts including back child support, however the children are 25 and 23 now. I guess I'm afraid he'll be Hit with a felony...by the time he sees the judge he will have been in jail 20 days bcuz I didn't have the money too post His bonds. I'm frantic... the inmates told him since it's his first felony that'll it'll most likely be reduCed too a misdemeanor but we're both scared bcuz we honestly had no idea it was a feLony...it was my (his wife) old plate and tag, he jus colored the sticker with an orange marker too appear current. I knw it was wrong and we're making no excuses here, but, a felony seems a little outrageous.

Please be aware that this is public forum, so anything you post can be seen by anybody. The prosecutor has the sole discretion in whether or not to reduce a charge to a misdemeanor. Whether or not she will do so depends largely on the strength of her case and any mitigating circumstances. Unfortunately it is very discretionary and some prosecutors will not agree to reduce much or anything; it depends on the person. Without more information it is hard to say what chances he has for a reduction.
You should amend your question to eliminate your admission. As Counsel has stated, this is a public forum and anything you post here could potentially be used against your husband. I understand that you don't have the money to bail out your husband, but you should attempt to find the funds to hire an criminal attorney immediately. As Counsel has stated, it will be up to the prosecutor to determine whether or not he/she should charge your husband with lesser charges. Hire an attorney.
First, my colleagues are absolutely right: Watch what you admit to in public. It can and will be used against you - and your husband. To answer your question, the answer is maybe. A prosecutor can always reconsider a charge and opt to reduce it. But to get to that point you need a good attorney experienced in criminal defense who could negotiate with the prosecutor. Good luck.
It's always possible to get a reduction, but whether that happens or not depends on a number of factors that none of us are privy to. Have a private consultation with a lawyer and have copies of the all the discovery (police reports, complaints, etc.) as well as a copy of your husband's Michigan IChat criminal history report from the Michigan State Police. You can get it instantly online for $10. A lawyer who is familiar with your husband's particular court is all the better as he will be familiar with what they do and don't do. Retain a lawyer that makes criminal defense a primary part of their practice as opposed to a general practitioner. and Google are great places to start looking. Good luck.
