Is being questioned by the police (9 years ago) a problem for a custody hearing?

My fiancé is going to go through a possible custody battle for her 10 year old daughter and warned me that I should tell her anything from my past. I have no arrests, DUI, Etcetera, except that 9 years ago I was questioned by the local police about an incident. Would this affect her custody?

It's doubtful that talking to the police 9 years ago will have any impact. What matters are convictions.

Mr. Mullaney is correct; however, as the lawyer, I would want to know the circumstances behind the incident. Family law is different than other civil cases and judges will often listen to things that we lawyers think they shouldn't

I agree with my colleagues, statements made to law enforcement 9 years ago are highly unlikely to be relevant to your ability to effectively parent your child today. Even old DUI convictions, so long as you have addressed any issues you have with alcohol, are unlikely to become a major factor. More important that you have effective legal counsel for your custody fight. Legal counsel can make sure that old issues that are no longer relevant are dragged into court.
