Can my husband who has a 3 year protective order against him take my kids in the divorce if....

I was 17 weeks pregnant and already had a 3 year old with husband when he shot a gun in the home across from where me and my 3 year old were sleeping. He has history of hurting himself, extreme alcohol abuse and drug abuse. I left to start life over, to keep kids safe. In December 2014 i was laid off work and a friend of mine from high school offered to let me stay with him. Now we are romantically involved and loves my kids as his own. I haven't filed divorce due the protective order in place. I hear in divorce certain bits of personal info like where i live and where kids go to school can be disclosed regardless of tpo on place. Can he sue me and take partial custody of the kids for this even though he is an abuser?

First off, consult with an experienced divorce attorney without delay about your rights, and what is likely to happen if either of you sues for divorce. Whether the judge awards your husband custody or visitation rights in light of past behavior depends a lot on what he'll admit and what can be proved in court. Where you live can be kept confidential under certain circumstances; that's in the code, and you want to make sure your attorney is familiar with that. And for goodness sakes, don't go putting any more on the internet about being romantically involved with someone other than your spouse.
