I just moved from New York to Florida and have a NYS Conditional License. What do I need to do to get the Florida equivalent?

I have a Conditional NYS Driver's License with Ignition Interlock restriction, because of a DWI I got in 2013 (I had a prior in 2006). I'm eligible to reapply for my full NYS license in October through the Driver Improvement Unit. Only problem is I just relocated to Florida for a new job. I called the Florida DMV and they said I would have to contact the NYS DMV. I called the NYS DMV, and they directed me to contact the Florida DMV. Can someone please tell me the steps I would have to take to receive a conditional/ equivalent license in the State of Florida?
It sounds like you are looking to get a hardship license...one that you can go to work, school, grocery store.. A lawyer can certainly help you with that. You may want to request a copy of what you have from NY as soon as possible and bring that with you to a consultation with your lawyer. Good Luck
You can't. Under Florida at Statutes, you do not qualify for a Florida hardship license because you are out-of-state resident with an out-of-state license.
No out-of-state licensee can apply for a hardship license in Florida, under the current laws of Florida.
The good news is that if you have a New York conditional license, and you are not a Florida resident, you can actually drive in Florida so long as you are within the restrictions of your license, so long as you're conditional license is valid.
You should report to your local Florida DMV and show them your New York conditional license to make sure that it is legal for you to drive with it in Florida.
If you take a job here that's more than temporary, Florida will consider you a resident and require you to get a Florida license. If that's the case, you may have to surrender and relinquish your NY driving privileges and become licensed in FL. If that's the case, Florida will require an IID on a car here.
I strongly suggest that you contact DHSMV, and speak with an analyst who can answer your questions with more specificity. Their number is 1.850.617.2000.
Be patient and be courteous. These folks in Tallahassee respond better to that approach.
Good luck.
