Obtaining permanent residency

I am working with USC as a research associate in public health department. I am having my H1B petition till June 2016. My contract with the university is ending on August 2015. Hence is it possible to stay in USA for sometime while searching my next job and also would like to apply for my permanent residency Under EB1 as I have potential number of publications, a book chapter, 124 citation of work. Also I review work of others in journals ( Impact factor 4.8 -7). Please let me know the followings 1. Can I stay in USA for few months while searching the next job. 2. What are the chances for getting the permanent residency under EB1. Thanks

1. You can try, by timely applying for a Form I-539 Change of Status (COS) to B-1/B-2 "visitor" prior to your current status' expiration. Note that these COS applications are seldom granted by USCIS California Service Center and "for searching the next job" is not a valid/approveable reason for requesting a COS. 2. Impossible to assess or accurately predict without first having thoroughly reviewed your complete, up to date CV.

You will be wise retaining one dedicated counsel to evaluate your particular case as no one on line could do what you expect remotely without reviewing one single document.

You are asking us to assess your chances for qualifying for one of the most complex immigration benefits; do that without review of the record, knowledge of facts and a clue as to area of the distinction you are claiming. Well... Thanks.
