My daughter was arrested in Cheyenne, WY for driving while being on prescription drugs that her doctor prescribed to her. She was in jail for a week before I was able to take out a loan to post her $3,000 cash bond. She was assigned a public defender while she was in jail. After I paid the cash bond, they took her PD away saying that if she could pay $3,000 for a cash bond, she can afford to get her own attorney. She didn’t pay it, I did. She has no money and I don’t have the money to pay for an attorney. Isn’t the court obligated to furnish a public defender since she doesn’t have any money?
