Legal court papers enough as proof of marriage?

5 views 2 answers
I am an Indian, Hindu religion currently in US on L1-B visa. My fiancee is also an Indian (Hindu) currently in US on her separate L1-B with some other company. We want to get married here in court and then I want to apply for my L2 as her dependent. While applying for my L2 visa will the legal court papers be enough as a proof of our marriage or anything else would be required?

Typically, your spouse needs to submit proof of marriage. This would be the certificate of marriage issued by the State.

You need the government issued marriage certificate.
