My therapist has to report that my 21 y/o sister gave marijuana to a minor (me). What will happen to both of us?

I am 16 years old and my older sister is 21. We have been smoking marijuana together for about a year. I was recently hospitalized and placed in therapy for depression and anxiety so my therapist was informed from the hospital of my drug use. Each month my therapist asks if I have used any drugs since the last time we spoke and without thinking of the consequences I told her the truth, which was yes and that I did so with my sister. She now has to "report child abuse" as a mandated law because my sister is 21 and giving drugs to a minor. My sister was recently charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. She has no other charges. What is going to happen to both of us after my therapist reports my sister?

Your sister is "in for a world of hurt" as many of my clients like to say. She needs to reach out to criminal defense counsel in the Lancaster/York area right away. There is a strong possibility that she will be charged with some sort of abuse/endangerment of a minor charge or at least contributing to a minor's delinquency. It may be a bit tougher for them to pursue a distribution of marijuana charge. She needs an attorney right away. Use the "Find a Lawyer" tab. If nothing comes of it at least everyone involved will have learned a few valuable lessons.

I agree with attorney Chrisman, you personally should hire an attorney to explore whether the therapist breached any confidences.
