What are my chances if an attorney I reviewed on seeks a claim for damages against me for defamation and libel?

I left a negative review here on for an attorney who handled my divorce case. Maybe I was too emotional in my feedback but I did want to let other people know what they can expect if they hire this specific attorney. He also has a couple of other reviews with a feedback very similar to mine, so I am not alone in my opinion of him. Now the attorney discovered the negative review I left and threatening to seek a claim for damages against me for defamation and libel if I don't remove my review within 2 weeks. I wonder what my chances are in case he indeed files a case against me and what is the best way for me to react.

If everything you said about the lawyer is absolutely true, then you would have a good defense to a defamation lawsuit. But if you published falsehoods about the lawyer, you could be liable for damages.

What you wrote may not be defamation. The question is do you want to escalate the situation or deescalate it? Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.

As others have said, truth is a defense to defamation. The question you need to ask yourself is whether it is worth it to have to deal with the inconvenience of a lawsuit just so that your review can remain posted. Even if you end up winning the case you still have to deal with a lot of inconvenience.
