GA citation "following too closely" (40-6-49). How to avoid points and fines, when hit and run by another car from behind?

I was trying join the freeway GA 400 when the person in front of me slammed onto her brakes. I was around 12 feet away from the car in front of me (later confirmed through skid marks on the road) but still skidded and could not stop my car from hitting the bumper of the car in front of me. Around the same exact time (cannot say who hit first) I was hit by another car from behind, as traffic was very bad that day. While I was pulling to the side, the driver behind me took off. I could just get the make and model of that car but could not read the licence plate number.
The officer who arrived after 10 mins gave me the mentioned citation and asked me to arrive in the court. I have also filed a claim with my insurance.
Unfortunately you are going to have to fight your citation in order to get it dismissed. It's unfortunate but since you were hit from behind the total damage to vehicles is not your fault. Of course, this all depends on what court you will be going to as well.

Your best option to avoid points is going to be hiring an attorney for the traffic citation. The attorney can represent you in court and negotiate with the state on your behalf. The attorney can share these facts with the prosecutor and negotiate a reduction in charge so there will be no points on your license. It is probably worth the investment to hire an attorney to keep your insurance rate from increasing.
It might be worth it to hire an attorney to negotiate with the prosecutor to amend the charge to where you would not receive any points on your license or even get a dismissal to avoid your insurance rates going up.
You can ask the prosecutor to reduce your citation to a non-reporting violation. Not only will this avoid points, but it will keep the charge off your driving history.
