Is there any recourse for me to pursue and confirm excessive attorney and medical bills?

My personal injury case was open and shut, we settled for the max of $45k. Medical bills were reduced from $26,925.60 to $20,309.44. Out of the $45k and after the bills, I am getting $6k leaving the atty with approx $19K. I believe I am being charged exorbitant fees from atty. I also feel I am being charged exorbitant fees for medical bills. For example, a total of three basic office visits for follow up at the clinic ran me in the thousands. What can I do?

Is the lawyer charging you more than what you agreed in the fee agreement? Medical bills are often exorbitant. Its good your lawyer was able to negotiate down what you owe.

You can dispute the bills. Whether or not that will be successful depends on many factors. One would assume you signed a retainer agreement with the law firm giving them a percentage. You can try to negotiate that rate with them, or you can file a fee dispute. Be prepared, however, to lose if they won't negotiate. The contract controls. That leaves you with client reviews on social media platforms warning others about this firm. As to the medical bills, one would assume you chose your providers and did not have health insurance. Perhaps the providers treated on a lien. You can try and research what reasonable and customary charges are in your area are for the services you received. Do not be surprised to find them to be rather high, especially when on a lien where the provider has to wait to be paid.
