I sustained 2nd degree burns to my face at work, do I have a lawsuit?

While at work, I was carrying a pitcher of hot water through the kitchen toward the exit only swinging exit door. The door only swings out and there is a small circular window at eye level of a person 6 ft tall. ( I am 6 ft tall) As I am holding the pitcher of hot water in one hand and pushing the door with the other hand, the door stopped abruptly and slammed back into the pitch of hot water. The hot water splashed my face leaving me with 2nd degree burns to my nose, cheeks, lips and forehead. There was someone on the other side of the door beneath the circular window that I couldn't see. I sustained 2nd degree burns to my face, Can I sue for damages, loss of wages and pain & suffering?

You may have a workers compensation claim as well as a claim for damages against other entities responsible for the functioning or structure of the door. It is important that you contact a lawyer to discuss your potential claims and evaluate your damages. Hopefully you make a full recovery however in the event you do not a lawyer can help you obtain monetary compensation for any permanent injuries.

Contact a workers compensation attorney that also does personal injury. You seem to have a good work comp case, but anything further requires more investigation.

You definitely have a workers' compensation claim, which will pay for authorized medical treatment and two-thirds of your lost wages up to a maximum of $550. You cannot sue your employer or a co-worker for damages, including pain and suffering. Whether there is another party you can sue depends on whether someone else is legally liable to you. I encourage you to contact one of workers'/compensation lawyers from . Make sure s/he is licensed in Georgia.

I am sorry to hear about your injury. The rules are different when making a claim against your employer, but you have what is called a worker's comp case. There are many lawyers who only handle worker's comp cases. You should sit down and discuss your case with a few of them and then hire the one you feel most comfortable with. Good luck.
