There is no question here. Talk to a local injury lawyer is familiar with dental malpractice and products liability issues. Most offer free consultations. Be well.
The mere fact that your dentist asked you to find another specialist to remove the tool lodged in your wife's jaw would not normally establish negligence. Was there any permanent damage to the jaw? Was she able to get the tool extracted? Did any other dentist confirm that there was negligence and resulting permanent damage? All these questions need to be answered before anyone can tell you if you have a case.
Obviously less than confidence building, but unless there is a residual injury of some sort this case will have difficulty finding malpractice counsel due to limited value. You may be able to get all the treatment from the original dentist for free.
