Was I wrongfully terminated?

Business 6 views 2 answers
I have worked for a company through a temp agency since March 2015. I have been told on numerous occasions that I would be hired on permanent . On July 14th I suffered a mild heart attack while at work. While waiting for the ambulance, the head of HR told me my job was not in jeopardy. On the 16th I was contacted by the temp agency stating that the company was terminating me due to attendance. I had missed days previously which were approved by my supervisor. I was never wrote up or counseled for any attendance issues. Can they legally do this?

Unfortunately, you do not have a claim for wrongful termination based on the facts. But, you may have a claim for Worker's Compensation benefits if you can satisfy the requirements to show that your heart attack was related to your job activities. It is worth seeking the opinion of a Worker's Compensation lawyer who handles only injured workers in your area. The consultation is free and it cost nothing to hire a Worker's Compensation lawyer.

Did others miss days but not get fired? If your being treated differently solely because of your medical condition, I suggest at least having a free case evaluation with an emoymemt attorney.
