Can a landlord require a tenant of a duplex to share their laundry room with the neighboring duplex?

There is nothing in the lease about having to share any space within the duplex. The landlord claims to have informed the tenants of the shared space at the time of the original showing, but the tenants claim that was not the case and weren't given the information until after the lease was signed.

If the laundry room is inside your rental, you do not have to "share" your rented space with anyone unless your written agreement provides that the laundry room is a common area (that is also used by others). If the laundry room is a common area, the tenant has no legal authority to restrict other tenants from using the common area. The facts are not clear in your post. What you should do is review the specific facts with your attorney to find out your legal options.
