How do I deal with repeated harassment by a neighbor in the city of Denver?

We are currently renting a house in the city of Denver. We moved in a year ago and, since then, our next door neighbor (who owns her home) has repeatedly called both the police and zoning committee on our house. We have 3 people living in our home and she claims we have 5-6 people living there. She states that we have drugs and she will call the drug office of the police department, even though we do not. She also claims we are continuously loud and take up all of the street parking. We are located next one of the biggest streets in Denver, so people who go to shops and restaurants on the main street often park on our street. She has threatened us with the zoning committee and police multiple times. The police have come over multiple times due to our calls. How do we get her to stop?

These are difficult situations and sadly not that uncommon. Assuming you don't feel physically endangered by your neighbor, consider talking to them first. Knock on your neighbor’s door. Invite them for coffee. Try to have a conversation in a non-treating way, attempt compassion and logic. You should also contact your City manager and see if the city offers mediation for neighbors who can’t work things out between themselves. If things continue to get out of hand, you might have to get the police involved, but you will have to establish harassment. Good Luck.

After a year of patience, I am not sure I would be interested in staying! Isn;t it time to let your landlord know you are vacating due to your out of control neighbor?
