1. When a forensic laboratory report from the Michigan State Police is being offered into evidence in criminal court proceeding by the prosecutor in a drug case, is the certificate (certifications of the analyst) required to support the report? also, is the "seal" on the document required as well?

Generally, as long as the proper foundation is laid to show that it is authentic the document usually will be accepted by the Court.

The statute provides a process where a report can be used without testimony. You have a right to have the court or your attorney subpoena the lab tech to court to examine the witness about the testing that was done.
