You need to engage an experienced criminal DUI defense lawyer immediately. Defense fees may seem high, but I strongly recommend that you not just roll over without a fight. This is so everywhere in this state, and particularly so in certain Snohomish County venues. You may have seen or heard lawyer advertisements to the effect that Washington DUI laws are among the most severe in the nation. It is true. In addition to lawyer fees, you could be facing high insurance premiums, intolerable restrictions on your license to drive, high cost of probation conditions, fines, and maybe civil lawsuits if your insurance doesn't cover the claims. Moreover, the high bail might have been imposed in contemplation that you could be charged with vehicular assault, a felony. The threshold of "serious injury" to make this a crime of vehicular assault is rather modest, even if it did not seem to you that anyone was seriously hurt.

You can expect a tough plea bargain, perhaps with up to a year or even more in custody. is it being charged as a felony or a misdemeanor? What was your BAC? How old are you? A good thing that you can do for yourself to help in negotiating leniency is start attending at least three alcoholic anonymous meetings every week. Look on Google to find an AA meeting near you and then go like crazy. They are free.

Sounds like you may be charged with a assault felony DUI due to the injuries of the passengers. This is a class B felony that could result in prison time. This is a very very serious DUI charge and you will need an experienced DUI attorney to fight this case. I know because I live and practice DUI defense in Snohomish. The law is as follows: In the most basic terms, a Washington State vehicular assault is hurting another person while driving under the influence or driving recklessly. RCW 46.61.522 states that: (1) A person is guilty of vehicular assault if he or she operates or drives any vehicle: (a) In a reckless manner and causes substantial bodily harm to another; or (b) While under the influence of intoxicating liquor or any drug, as defined by RCW 46.61.502, and causes substantial bodily harm to another; or (c) With disregard for the safety of others and causes substantial bodily harm to another.

As you can see from the other answers, people can only guess at what may have happened in your case and why your bail was so high. Regardless, a DUI involving a vehicle accident is more serious and complicated than your average DUI. I'm not sure if you were booked and later released or if the prosecuting attorney has actually filed charges against you. Typically the prosecutor will wait to file charges until blood results and various accident reconstruction reports have been completed. It's imperative that you get an experienced criminal defense attorney on board who regularly works in Snohomish County. Start making phone calls today. Most of us offer free consultations. The sooner you act the better because you are also facing consequences with the department of licensing that requires quick action.

Hopefully for your sake no one was injured so that you don't face vehicular assault charges. Get an attorney on board ASAP to evaluate and see if they can keep this bad situation from becoming worse.
