I live in Columbia S.C. Incident happen in Fort Mills, S.C. and I retained an attorney in Fort Mills, S.C. to keep the cost down

Law firm got my information from public record and sent a letter offering their service. I paid full retainers fee after my first meeting with my attorney. I tried to get follow up on my case from the attorney and his assistant, but they would not call back or answer my e-mails. I had no choice but to go to my court hearing without an attorney to keep from my bond being revoked and sent back to jail. I had a feeling attorney would not show up. I have lost lots of money. I sent demand letters, no answer. What all kind of charges can be brought against the attorney under Civil Law suit? can any kind of criminal charges be brought against the attorney? Can he be sue in federal court? What kind of Tort(s) did he violate? Can I sue for more under what? Law firm is still in business.

Contact the Office of Disciplinary Counsel at (803) 734-2038 immediately. This is very unethical conduct. You may also seek a refund of your fees through the SC Bar's Fee Dispute Resolution Board.

If you can't get in touch with your attorney, you need to hire another one. Missing court dates is a big ethical mistake made by your attorney. Missing one in a career happens, but if this is happening on the regular the SC Bar Association (the regulating body in SC for attorneys) needs to know of this lawyers conduct. If you have lost lots of money and possibly suffered other negatives due to not having legal representation which you paid for in court, you may need to hire another attorney to help you in being compensated. Hopefully you can get this all resolved by contacting the SC Bar Association but you may need to hire an attorney to help you.
