I live in Virginia since 2007, I have been on probation for 5 yrs that ended 3 yrs ago. I just found out I have an active warrant in Arizona for failure to appear for a phone threat. its a class 1 misdemeanor. it was issued in 2008. I never been told about it threw mail or phone nor while I was on probation. I found out about it threw a background check for employment.. I have been pulled over for traffic stops but it never popped up. I'm told that since its a misdemeanor that Arizona doesn't extradite and that it will only pop up during employment background checks. I'm in process of opening a business and would like to get it resolved. however I cant leave Virginia and go all the way to AZ. is it possible to hire an attorney in AZ to appear on my behalf.

This is a question for AZ lawyers, but I think it is unlikely an attorney will be able to handle this in your absence.

I am not familiar with Arizona procedures but in most states, when you have a failure to appear warrant our for your arrest, you must be there in person and get processed. In Virginia, if you would be required to turn yourself in and then you would appear before a magistrate who would determine if you could be released on bond.

I would suggest that you go to "find a lawyer" on this website to speak to one in AZ who practices criminal defense law.
