I recently had a woman living in my house with her pets (owned 9 cats & 2 dogs, 1 of which was pregnant. This was the puppy daddy's 3rd time within her animals) She brought the dogs & 8 of the 9 cats, she couldn't find 1 when moving & didn't care to go back and find it. From the day she moved in she'd leave early in the mornings, & not come home till like 2-4am usually; & never asked us to feed her animals or make sure they were being taken care of. She did not feed them properly or enough & refused to give her pregnant dog the type & amount of food she required. When told to move out after failing to pay rent about a week ago, she left & did not return to care for her animals for days or ask us to. Then I found some very bad injuries on the cats, told her, & she refused to get them help.

Call animal control or the police. An attorney probably won't help.

Contact Los Angeles Department of Animal Services, the East Valley branch. It is their function to enforce animal abuse laws. However, there are issues of funds and manpower. If you can get a lot of other people to sign a letter to them, and bring it to East Valley, on Vanowen, East of Van Nuys Blvd. that might get them on the case. Michael Rotsten, Esq.
