After return of the signed release to the insurance carrier or defense lawyer, there is a time limit in most jurisdictions. Any delay beyond the time limit can cause your attorney to file a motion to compel the insurance company to pay pursuant to the settlement agreement and ask the court to award you court costs and attorney fees for filing the motion and interest. This usually does not happen but when it does there is a remedy.
It sounds like you already have an attorney, you should be asking this questions to your attorney. There is no set time period. 30 to 60 days is a reasonable time, but it could be faster. Good luck.
A lawyer has not only to receive the check but to validate that he can disburse it to you including checking insurers who must be repaid and Medicaid liens, and child support debt, among many other things. It is not a "you signed, here's your check" situation. And with a lawyer you can't get specific help here.
