Will an arrest show up on an employer background check?

I was arrested for felony theft in 2006, and the case was dismissed. I did do an online ICHAT search and it didn't appear. The only thing it showed was my conviction of larceny from 2003. I just got the conviction expunged and I had to get fingerprinted. The results I got from the state police did show the arrest. I'm trying to get a better job and I'm worried that arrest might hinder my ability to do so.

An arrest will always show on your rap sheet even if you were not convicted. Some states have mechanisms to remove the arrest if there was no conviction. Consult a local attorney.

If you were arrested and fingerprints were taken then usually that arrest will appear on ICHAT. If so, you need to hire an attorney to help you get that off of your record. However, you indicated that you already had the matter expunged (2003 conviction) so that conviction should be removed from your ICHAT record. If not, contact an attorney to help you. And yes, I would think an employer may decide not to hire you should they find even a record of your arrest (and not conviction) for a larceny charge.
