Make sure your home is as normal as possible. Not sure about the circumstances of your custody case but try to minimize any issues that have been raised. Always make sure the place is safe and clean. Good luck!
Whenever someone is conducting a home visit or home study you want your home to be clean, but it's fine to look like it's lived in so some toys out or laundry being done is ok. You also want to make sure that there is food in the house. Whoever is doing the home visit will be specifically looking for 'safety concerns' these are items like exposed wiring, holes in the wall or ceiling, broken floors, unsafe stairs, also make sure you have appropriate stair rails, and that the electrical and plumbing are working properly.
I concur with the recommendations of my distinguished colleagues. You need to make the house as neat and clean as possible, without making it look like it was artificially done, just for the custody evaluation. Just try to relax and be yourself. Good luck.
