What kind of attorney would I need for internet harassment?

I have a past relationship posting pictures of me without my consent on social media writing crude things about me and someone else in my life. It's been an ongoing thing for about 3 months now and I'm afraid he won't stop till he gets what he wants. There is past domestic filed against him as well.
I am sorry you are going through this. Unfortunately we hear this too often. What concerns me most is your statement that you are a afraid he will not stop until he gets what he wants. If you are being blackmailed you need to go to the police. Aside from that there are a few other things you must do to protect yourself.
First, send your ex a letter by certified mail and email stating that he does not have your permission to use or disseminate your photographs. Make sure you demand in the letter that he cease and desist doing so immediately or you will notify the police and make a complaint for harassment. You may want to have a lawyer send it as it may have more weight then.
Next, you must do a reverse image search of all of the photographs he has, including the ones he has already published, and see how wide he has already published them on the web. You will want to get them removed IMMEDIATELY. Send a DMCA Takedown Notice to each website. This is another area where a lawyer may be more effective than doing it yourself. These websites steal from each other the content. So what ends up on one website will spawn to five, and then ten, and so on. If it gets to a certain point it will be difficult, if not impossible to get them all down. Speed is the key.
If he is publishing them on Facebook there are ways to get him permanently blocked on there.

I advise people to go to their states Family Court. This kind of harassment from an ex is known as a "family offense" in NY and similar terms in other states. Most Family Courts have the power to enjoin this kind of behavior with a court order. Best of luck.
You will want to discuss your situation with a Family law attorney in more detail. Use the "Find a Lawyer" tab on this site and choose someone from your locale. Many lawyers on offer a free phone consultation.
In Illinois, Cyberstalking is a Class 4 felony.
