How long are police reports kept on file?

I'm from San Jose, California and I just made a police report on someone (for vandalism), but I ended up not pressing charges. So, there is no criminal record on this person. The case has been "resolved." However, will the police report I made count against this person in any way? And how long would the SJ Police Department keep these police records on file? Do they delete these report files from their system (for good) after a certain amount of time? Thank you.

Tapes of 911 calls are kept for 90 days; records related to the report are kept for 7 years.
