What if you marry someone so they can get their green card but are only married a few months and want to divorce them?

I know someone who married a friend so that he could stay in the country. They got married a few months ago and my friend recently changed her mind about this whole thing because of legal reasons and does not want to be caught up in it or risk going to jail. How can she divorce him? Will she get caught if she does?

It is time to retain an immigration lawyer as this will be viewed as marrying solely to obtain immigration benefits which really boils down to marriage fraud. The divorce is not an immigration issue and your friend should discuss this whole affair with her husband and find a resolution before involving any outside party. She can withdraw the petition if she wishes to. You are welcome to use the link provided below. Goodluck.
