I was wondering how I would go about obtaining my ambulance report?

I was involved in a pedestrian vs. car incident. I was unconscious and have no recollection of the incident. I am trying to piece together the facts so I can determine whether or not I'd like to pursue the other party's insurance to pay for my medical. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

An attorney sends a request along with a signed medical authorization pursuant to HIPAA. This is how you obtain an EMT report from the ambulance experience. I believe the report you really want is the police report. Police would, hopefully anyhow, have documented the names of the drivers, the vehicles, the owners of the vehicles and the insurance company. Personal injury attorneys almost always offer a free consultation. In addition, the insurance industry's own statistics indicate that once an attorney is brought into the claim, the value of the claim as much as doubles or more. So, I highly suggest that you should retain experienced counsel. This answer should not be construed as actual legal advice, which can only be provided in an office consultation by an attorney in your jurisdiction knowledgeable with respect to the area of law in which your concern lies.

Get a copy of the police report and all of your medical records from the ambulance company, hospital, doctor, etc. Then take everything to a lawyer and he/she can advise you on what to do. You have a very limited time in which to file a lawsuit so speak to an attorney immediately so that you don't lose the right to sue.

You can simply request one from the ambulance co with a med release form (there may be a fee.) You may also want to get reports from the PD on the scene and any that have been filed with your RMV.

Hi. I practice in Ohio so I can assist you with your questions. The accident or incident report will have the name of the squad that transported you. The incident report can usually be obtained online through the city poice department, or the OSHP, if it was Highway Patrol. If you don't have the incident report, you can also find the name of the squad by looking at the hospital intake form (hopsital medical records department). You can then call them and fax them a HIPAA auhtorization and they will release the report to you. In Ohio, the party that hit you (or their insurer) must pay accident-related medical bills, past and future lost wages, if any, and past and future pain and suffering, etc. If you need help, you may want to contact an attorney. Most will not charge for the consultation. Be careful not to sign anything or to give the insurance company an authorizatioon or a recorded statement. Best of luck to you.
