Temporary disability payments may be either taxable benefits or non-taxable benefits. If they are taxable benefits they will be reported on Form W-2 Box 1 as wage income. If they are non-taxable benefits, they may be reported on Form W-2 Box 12 under Code J. In either event, a Form W-2 should be issued so that you can file your tax return accordingly.
