Is it illegal to take pictures of coworkers for malicious purposes

My job is home care and they do not film us. A fellow employee took pictures of me and another coworker without our knowledge and brought them to upper management.

You have no legal expectation of privacy in the workplace. Therefore, your co-worker can take photographs of you as well as video record you without your consent regardless of her intent.

Keep in mind that when in someone's home, your behavior is clearly on display, both when actively treating your patient, and when in 'down time.' It is legal in Missouri also for a person to record a conversation without the other party's consent.
Now, if she then publicly posts the photos and makes damaging, untrue statements, such as on Facebook, you may have a cause of action for defamation. Though, the absolute defense to defamation (sometimes called libel or slander) is that the matter published is true.
