How do you obtain a police car video for an improper lane usage ticket before you plead the ticket?

A ticket was issued after a stop at 1:30AM for improper lane usage. The officer said he was looking for DUI. He indicated the car tire touched (and later said crossed) the double yellow line on a 4-lane road with painted median. Before pleading the $75 ticket I would like to see the video.

If your state allows for discovery in traffic cases you can request it that way. If not, try a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. Consult an attorney licensed in your state who handles such matters for a more precise answer.

Contact the police department to ascertain if there is a video. You can subpoena the video to court, but for some unknown reason, some police departments are allowed to charge you for a copy of the video.
