What is a 'Bench Warrant Hold' hearing?

Subject was incarcerated in a different county for a probation violation. Meanwhile, LA County issued a detainer hold for a new charge. The warrant hold has now been released (they have retained an attorney) and they are set to be released from custody on time. I called the courts and their next hearing is labeled as a 'Bench Warrant Hold' hearing. What is this exactly?

Usually that means there is a bench warrant but it has not been placed in the system yet. Basically if the person shows on that court date the bench warrant will go away. The court is just making sure the individual appears. Robert Driessen

A hearing date to guarantee appearance in court failing which bail will be revoked.
