Shoplifting under $50 at Walmart in texas?

It was at walmart and it was way under $50. But the guy said I might get a letter in the mail or I might not. I dont really understand what that means. He also let me go after he did all the paper work and said that I could still come back to that Walmart, I just cant steal anymore. Which I agreed to. This is my frist time ever stealing and my last. I dont have any kind of record. I have never gotten a speeding ticket or anything. I dont have a criminal background but I am 18 and in college. So my questions is, since what I was so low and way under $50 what are they going to do? Also the police wernt involved and I didnt have to sign any papers and they didnt take my picture. Is this going to be on my record where a job will see it? please help

It is likely only in the Walmart database. If no police were involved, you were not charged criminally with theft, which is a very good thing. The letters that Walmart sends out are really pretty meaningless. It is unlikely that they will pursue any kind of civil suit against you. The best advice is don't think that because you avoided criminal charges this time that it is worth the risk to try again. Theft is a serious crime at any level and can ruin your future.
