You can go to the court house where he was sentenced and view the court file. In that court file will be a docket reflecting the sentence he received. You need to find your way to the criminal business office and ask a clerk there where you go to "view records." If you know your brother's case number, bring that with you.

Yes, the easiest way to find out what happened was to go to the court where the case was heard and look at the file. It will give you the information that you need. If that doesn't work, or if you need assistance, you can contact one of us San Diego Criminal defense attorney's to check the file for you. However, there will be a charge for one of us to do this.

Go to the court where your brother was sentenced to request a copy of the court docket. This paper is sometimes called the court-order or minute order depending on the courthouse. If it is an older case the file will be in the business office and must be requested with either a case number of defendant's name and date of birth.
