Return to US with just 10 days remaining on wife's F-2 visa and 10 days remaining on my OPT. Will carry 17mo Extension OPT card.

I am on F-1 visa valid till Sept 2014. My 12 months OPT expires on Jan 31 2012. We have to travel urgently in Jan 2012 for 2 weeks. While returning Wife will be having only 10 days remaining on her F-2 visa as her visa expires on Jan 31 2012 too. I will be having 17 months OPT extension card and I-20's for both of us. Will there be any problem at immigration with just 10 days remaining on my OPT and on her F-2 visa?

It sounds as if you have all the right documents. Make sure that both I-20s have been endorsed on the 3rd page in the last 6 months and make sure you have a letter from your employer stating you are returning for employment. Never 100% guarantee with travel, but you have all that you need.

You should be ok but it's up to CBP ultimately.

I agree with my colleagues, you 'should' be OK ... but it is up to CBP .... you should know that they are not 'fans' of people on OPT traveling.

Also if you have proof of your "urgent" travel needs bring that as well, documented to show the USCBP Inspector if you are placed into Secondary Soft Passport control, just in case. regards
